QSpot (Firetruck House, 2nd Floor)

The second floor of the Firetruck House is lovingly known as QSpot. This is a warm and welcoming space for the extremely diverse population of students celebrating, questioning, investigating and struggling with sexual orientation and/or gender identity. QSpot is a great place to relax, study, check email, browse books and magazines, watch films or converse with queer and allied students. The space is open to all Stanford students and offers:

• a computer cluster
• complimentary printing
• a library
• magazines, academic journals and arts publications
• a study, meeting and events space with a media center
• dry erase boards for creative brainstorming

QSpot is open Monday through Friday from noon–5 pm while school is in session.  Current Stanford students , request your own door code to access the space 24/7. Space reservations by Stanford student groups can also be requested by filling out the QSpot Reservation Form.

This space is one of the oldest campus LGBT centers in the country; there has been an LGBT presence in Stanford’s Firetruck House since the formation of the Gay People’s Union (GPU) in 1971. The intervening decades have seen a dynamic unfolding of student-initiated, student-created, student-implemented campaigns, programs, activities and projects, linked to evolving conceptions of sexual orientation and gender identity and to larger societal struggles for rights and acceptance.
